The “Red Knights”, a collective of rich financiers who are Manchester United supporters have gone public regarding a takeover offer which they plan to make for for the English Premier League soccer team Manchester United.

“We can confirm that a group of high net worth individuals, who support Manchester United (known as the “Red Knights”), met in London yesterday,” the group said today. The group is looking at the possibility of putting an ownership proposal to the club’s owners the the Glazer family who are based in the United States.
For such a proposal to be viable, it would need the involvement and support of Manchester United supporters worldwide, the group added.
If such a proposal were to succeed, it would need the support of the core global Manchester United fanbase.
“Any new ownership model would aim not only to put the club on a sound financial footing, but would also aim to put the supporters at the heart of everything the club does,” the group said in their emailed statement.
In the forthcoming weeks and months, the “Red Knights” will work work with the MU Supporters’ Trust and other groups to arrive at a suitable proposa, and will issue further statements when approprate, they said.

Wow, this is interesting. Man U are like 70M in debt I think. It will be V Interesting to see who these “Red Knights” are, and how that will effect the fans’ perception on any ownership transfer.
